Tyree P. Jones, Sr.

Tyree P. Jones, Sr. was born July 18, 1928, in Chase City, Va. to the late Preston B. and Willia S. Jones. He graduated from Thyne Institute High School there and furthered his education by attending Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tenn. graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949. In 1947, he became a charter member of Beta Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at the college. After college, he moved to Brooklyn, NY where he was employed by the New York City Transit Authority. While in New York, he was asked by one of his fraternity brothers to be in his wedding and he accepted. At the rehearsal, he met the maid of honor Louise Brown, and the rest is history. After a brief courtship, they were married in 1954 in Plainfield, NJ. His mother in law Adele M. Brown and his wife Louise were both funeral directors in Plainfield.
